The LA County Fair |
And who doesn't like shopping, shows or festivals and fairs? Most cities have fairs once a year. States and counties have them more than that. And here in So Cal, summertime is County Fair Time.
June and July, people go down to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for the San Diego County Fair -- the perfect place for a fair, right by the ocean.
July and August, folks trek to Costa Mesa for its nice summer weather and of course the Orange County Fair -- one of the biggest in the entire United States.
But come end of August/early September (specifically Labor Day Weekend), it's back to Pomona at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds (now called Fairplex) for the largest fair of them all, the LA County Fair.
The festivities will normally run until the end of September or even up to early October. Check their website.
Here are 5 Good Reasons to Go:
1. The SD and OC Fairs are Both Over
If you missed them, then they were more expensive anyway.
2. Summer is Done (Or over soon)
And aside from one last trip to Disneyland or some other theme park, the LA Fair is a decent option to finish the season off before eventually heading back to school, or work or back to your hometown.
3. The End of Summer Concert Series
There will be nighttime concerts at reasonable prices for every type of music fan. And the good news is that there are normally lots of promotions or free general admission concert tickets to be had, check out the fair's website for details.
4. Shows, Shows and More Shows
Everyone will just be blown away by the sheer number and the list of spectacular shows lined up for the largest fair in the country. And there is bound to be one for everyone. Previous shows have showcased aerial acrobats, the Chinese Circus Show, the Dream World Cirque Artists, Monster Truck, Motocross Stunts, Acapella Artists, Hip Hop and Rap Artists, Praise and Gospel Festivals, Marching Band Competitions, MTV's Best Dance Crews, Disco, Top 40, Country Music Acts, Jazz and Latin Music Acts and much more.
5. And Everything Else
Each fair is different and each year it just gets bigger and better. Past events had all sorts of competitions, classes, rides, horse racing, wine, beer and spirits tasting and a dozen other educational and entertaining shows.
